Asterion
Asterion
Definition
Asterion is a point located on the side of the skull towards the back, specifically at the posterior end of the parietomastoid suture. It serves as the junction between the lambdoid suture, the parietomastoid suture, and the occipitomastoid suture. At this point three bones meet each other: the occipital bone from behind, and the parietal and mastoid temporal bones on the side.
