Definition
The circular fibres of ciliary muscle are the innermost fibres of ciliary muscle, arranged in a ring around the lens.
Function
When the circular fibres contract, they reduce the diameter of the ciliary ring, causing relaxation of the zonular fibres and allowing the lens to become more convex for near vision (accommodation).
