Definition

Antoine Micheau

The dorsal surfaces of the digits of the hand are defined as the anatomical regions on the posterior (back) aspect of the fingers, extending from the dorsal base of each digit (proximal phalanx) to the dorsal tip (distal phalanx), including the nail bed and the skin overlying the extensor tendons. This surface is distinct from the palmar (volar) aspect, which faces the palm.
