Gastric bubble

Bulla gastrica

Definition

Muhammad A. Javaid

The gastric bubble is a collection of swallowed air that normally accumulates in the fundus of the stomach. Because the fundus is the highest part of the stomach in the upright position, gas rises and collects there, forming a visible airfilled radiolucent area on chest or abdominal radiographs. It is typically seen beneath the left hemidiaphragm and is considered a normal radiological finding.
