Intercondylar line

Linea intercondylaris

Definition

The intercondylar line is a ridge of bone located between the medial and the lateral condyles on the posterior aspect of the lower end of the femur. It serves as a boundary, separating the intercondylar fossa from the popliteal surface of the femur. The intercondylar line functions as an attachment site for knee joint capsule and the oblique popliteal ligament on the lateral side.
