Definition
The jugular notch of occipital bone marks the front edge of the jugular process, which has a bony indentation or a notch. In an intact skull, the notch forms the rear boundary of the jugular foramen. The jugular notch of occipital bone connects with the jugular notch of the petrous temporal bone towards the front, coming together to form the jugular foramen.
