Lateral longitudinal stria
Stria longitudinalis lateralis
Definition
The lateral longitudinal stria is one of a paired set of slender, longitudinal bundles of myelinated fibres embedded within the indusium griseum on the dorsal surface of the corpus callosum. It represents supracallosal fibres of the fornix, historically termed the fornix longus.
The lateral longitudinal stria lies laterally in the callosal sulcus, where the indusium griseum approaches the cortex of the cingulate gyrus.
Anteriorly, it curves around the genu and rostrum of the corpus callosum toward the paraterminal gyrus in the subcallosal region.
Posteriorly, it passes around the splenium, where it converges with the medial longitudinal stria of the same side and continues into the fasciolar gyrus.
