The lateral region of the knee is the area encompassing the lateral aspect of the knee joint, including both superficial and deep structures. This region is bounded by the lateral femoral condyle, lateral tibial plateau, and the fibular head. Key structures within the lateral region include the lateral collateral ligament (LCL), the anterolateral ligament (ALL) when present, the iliotibial band (ITT), the biceps femoris tendon, the popliteus muscle and tendon, the lateral joint capsule, and associated neurovascular structures such as the lateral genicular nerve.
