Left paratracheal space

Spatium paratracheale sinistrum

Definition

The left paratracheal space lies to the left of the trachea and the esophagus. In a thin patient, the left paratracheal space is narrow and becomes broader as it goes down, particularly at the level of the aortopulmonary window.
