Trigonum omoclaviculare
- Synonym: Subclavian triangle
- Related terms: Omoclavicular triangle; Subclavian triangle
Definition
The omoclavicular triangle (supraclavicular triangle; Subclavian triangle) is bounded by the clavicle inferiorly, the posterior border of the sternocleidomastoid muscle anteriorly, and the anterior border of the trapezius muscle posteriorly. The floor of the triangle is formed by the first rib and the insertion of the omohyoid muscle, which crosses the triangle and divides it into the larger occipital triangle above and the smaller omoclavicular (or subclavian) triangle below. This region contains important neurovascular structures, including the subclavian artery and vein, and the brachial plexus trunks.
