Definition

Muhammad A. Javaid

The palmar branch of ulnar nerve, also known as the palmar cutaneous branch, is one of its cutaneous branches originating in the forearm.

Origin and Pathway

The palmar cutaneous branch arises approximately 5 cm above the wrist. It has a superficial course, passing over the flexor retinaculum to reach the palm.

Innervation

  • The palmar branch provides sensory innervation to the skin over the hypothenar eminence.

  • Additionally, the palmar branch establishes neural communication with the palmar cutaneous branch of the median nerve, contributing to the sensory network of the palm.
