Epithelium pigmentosum
Definition
The pigmented epithelium is a double layer of pigmented epithelium, continuous with that of the ciliary body, that covers the posterior surface of the iris, so pigmented that no nuclei are visible and giving the purple color of the posterior surface or iris.
