Definition

The posterior temporal branch of the MCA supplies the inferior temporal lobe and the transverse temporal gyri.

The cortical area supplied by this artery (Michotey et al.) is the posterior temporal area: the middle and posterior part of the superior temporal gyrus, the posterior one-third of the middle temporal gyrus, and the posterior extreme of the inferior temporal gyrus.
