Tuberculum quadratum

Definition

The quadrate tubercle is a notable bony prominence located centrally on the intertrochanteric crest, at the posterior aspect of the upper end of the femur. It serves as an attachment point for the quadratus femoris muscle, a significant contributor to the deep lateral rotation of the hip joint.
