The anterior lateral segment (segment VI) is the inferior subsegment of the posterior segment of the right lateral division, situated to the right of the right hepatic veins, below the portal plane.

Note: The Terminologia Anatomica 1&2 is remarkably not at all clear for the denomination of segments of right liver, and these terminologies are not justified in official terminologies without any source cited for these terms. The use of the adjectives "anterior" for segment V and VI and "posterior" for segments VIII and VII is very strange and doesn't match with the anatomical orientation of these segments.
