Scapular region

Regio scapularis

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The scapular region refers to the anatomical area encompassing the scapula, (houlder blade), and its surrounding structures.

The scapular region is divided into three layers: superficial, intermediate, and deep. The superficial layer includes the trapezius and latissimus dorsi muscles. The intermediate layer contains the levator scapulae, rhomboid major and minor muscles, and the spinal accessory nerve. The deep layer comprises the serratus anterior and subscapularis muscles, along with associated bursae
