Suprachoroid lamina

Lamina fusca sclerae

  • Related terms: Suprachoroid layer of sclera

Definition

The sclera is separated from the outer surface of the choroid by an extensive lymph space (spatium perichorioideale) which is traversed by an exceedingly fine cellular tissue, the lamina fusca of the sclera (also described as lamina suprachorioidea), composed of scattered melanocytes that give this layer a yellow appearance.
