Dog

Canis

Definition

The two only domestic carnivorous, the dog and the cat are members of the fissipedes. They are digitigrades, terrestrials, with free fingers and claws. They have five fingers in the hand  and the foot but the fifth finger is weak, especially in the foot where it can be missing. The fingers III and IV are stronger. The canines are longer than the other teeth. The molars are sharp. On each jaw, one of them, the fourth premolar, is more developed than the other. The stomach is simple and the intestine short. The penis contains a small bone. The skin is soft and covered with fur. They have several pairs of nipples, abdominal and inguinal.
