腓骨位于胫骨的外侧，上下两端均与胫骨相连。腓骨是两骨中较细小的一根，且与其长度相比，是所有长骨中最为纤细的。其上端较小，位于胫骨头后方，低于膝关节平面，不参与膝关节的构成。其下端稍向前倾，所在平面位于上端平面的前方；下端突出于胫骨下方，构成踝关节的外侧部分。该骨由骨体和两个骨端组成。
