Definition

Muhammad A. Javaid

The anterior cutaneous branches of femoral nerve are responsible for providing sensory innervation to the skin of the anterior and medial regions of the thigh. These branches arise from the superficial (or anterior) division of the femoral nerve, specifically comprising the medial cutaneous nerve of the thigh and the intermediate cutaneous nerve of the thigh.

  • The medial cutaneous nerve of the thigh supplies the skin of the medial side of the thigh, extending down toward the knee.

  • The intermediate cutaneous nerve of the thigh innervates the skin over the anterior surface of the thigh.
