Anterior median line
Linea mediana anterior
Definition
Anterior median line is an important reference line on the human body, which is mid-sagittal and exists on the anterior of the head and torso. On the anterior abdominal and chest walls, the anterior median line can be seen extending from the jugular notch, crossing over the sternum and linea alba in their midline, and reaching out to the midline pubic symphysis.
The anterior median line and other reference lines allow for easy and symmetrical marking of surgical incisions.
