Axillary lymphatic plexus

Plexus lymphaticus axillaris

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The axillary lymphatic plexus is a complex network of lymph nodes and vessels located in the axilla region. It plays a crucial role in the lymphatic drainage of the upper limb, breast, and thoracic wall.

The axillary lymphatic plexus is interconnected with the lymphatic drainage of the breast, particularly through the subareolar Sappey's plexus, which is involved in lymphogenous metastasis to the axillary lymph nodes in cases of breast cancer.
