Subclavian trunk
Truncus subclavius
Definition
Subclavian trunk is the anatomical term from Terminologia Anatomica 1 that groups:
The left subclavian lymphatic trunk that drains lymph from the upper left quadrant of the body, including the left arm, left side of the thorax, and parts of the head and neck. It begins in the medial axillary lymph nodes and travels towards the jugulosubclavian angle, where it typically joins the thoracic duct or directly enters the venous system at the junction of the left internal jugular and subclavian veins.
The right subclavian lymphatic trunk that drains lymph from the right upper limb, right side of the thorax, and right side of the head and neck. It originates from the medial axillary lymph nodes. It then travels superiorly and medially, and joins with the right jugular lymphatic trunk and the right bronchomediastinal lymphatic trunk to form the right lymphatic duct or may directly empty int the right brachiocepahlic vein at the right venous angle.
