Right bronchomediastinal lymphatic trunk

Truncus lymphaticus bronchomediastinalis dexter

  • Synonym: Right bronchomediastinal trunk; Right bronchomediastinal lymph trunk

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The right bronchomediastinal lymphatic trunk drains lymph from the right side of the thorax, including the right lung, right side of the heart, and parts of the diaphragm coming from the right bronchopulmonary (hilar) nodes, right paratracheal nodes, and other mediastinal nodes.

Formed by the convergence of efferent lymphatic vessels from the right bronchopulmonary (hilar) nodes, right paratracheal nodes, and other mediastinal nodes, the right bronchomediastinal lymphatic trunk then ascends and usually empties into the right lymphatic duct, which subsequently drains into the venous system at the junction of the right subclavian and internal jugular veins.
