Ethmoidal process

Processus ethmoideus

  • Latin synonym: Processus ethmoidalis

Definition

Muhammad A. Javaid, MD, PhD

The ethmoidal process, situated at the posterior part of the superior border of the inferior nasal concha, is one of its three distinct processes. This positioning sets it apart from the lacrimal process, which is found anteriorly, and the maxillary process, which is located more centrally and is notably thinner.

The primary function of the ethmoidal process is to connect the inferior nasal concha with the uncinate process of the ethmoid bone, establishing a direct structural connection between the two.
