External medullary lamina of thalamus

Definition

The external medullary lamina of thalamus is composed of myelinated white matter fibers which cover over the lateral surface of the thalamus, separating it from more laterally placed structures, including the reticular nuclei of thalamus and the posterior limb of internal capsule.
