Facet for plantar calcaneonavicular ligament
Facies articularis ligamenti calcaneonavicularis plantaris
Definition
The facet for the plantar calcaneonavicular ligament (a.k.a. the medial facet) lies on the inner/medial side of the lower surface of the talus’s head, just in front of the middle calcaneal facet. The medial facet aids in the articulation between the talus and the calcaneonavicular ligament (or spring ligament). The ligament passes beneath the talus’s head, providing support to the head and connecting the calcaneum to the navicular bone.
