Geniculum nervi facialis

Definition
The geniculum of facial nerve it the points where the facial nerve bends suddenly backward and arches downward behind the tympanic cavity. It presents a reddish gangliform swelling, the geniculate ganglion (nucleus of the sensory root of the facial nerve).
