Definition

The internal carotid venous plexus (petro-occipital venous plexus; venous plexus of Rektorzik) surrounds the petrous part of the internal carotid artery and is one drainage pathway of the cavernous sinus. In most cases, the VPR connect the cavernous sinus and anterior condylar confluence.
