Isthmus of cingulate gyrus
Isthmus gyri cinguli
Definition
The isthmus of cingulate gyrus is a narrow region of the cingulate gyrus, which is situated at its rear end, behind the thalamus, and posteroinferior to the splenium of the corpus callosum. The isthmus connects the cingulate gyrus with the parahippocampal gyrus, linking these two brain structures.
This particular region is responsible for various neurological functions, including memory, emotion, and cognitive processing.
