Lateral limb of suprarenal gland

Crus laterale glandulae suprarenalis

  • Synonym: Lateral adrenal limb

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The radiological anatomy of the suprarenal gland is based on transverse cross sections, on which the adrenal gland looks like an inverted “Y” on the lower part of the gland.

On this shape, we can describe a body and a medial and lateral limb of the suprarenal gland.

These structures are more difficult to depict on coronal or sagittal slices.

These structures are not officially listed in Terminologia Anatomica 1&2 but often used in daily radiology practice.
