Lateral process of calcaneal tuberosity
Processus lateralis tuberis calcanei
Definition
The lateral process of calcaneal tuberosity is the lateral protrusion of the tuberosity on the plantar aspect or the sole of the foot. The calcaneal tuberosity, located on the plantar side, is the forward projection of the lower part of the posterior surface of the calcaneus bone. It consists of bony protrusions known as the lateral and medial processes, with a V-shaped notch separating them. The abductor digiti minimi muscle originates from the lateral process of calcaneal tuberosity.
