In medial nuclei of thalamus are multiple of gray matters and most important one is dorsomedial nucleus.

Function: adjust your behavior and psychological and physical states according to your moods, for example: when you are happy physically you are good, you look strong and having pleasant feeling and pleasant thought but if you are very disturbed or depress your shoulder come down, all thoughts are negative. this nucleus work on these activities. so, adjust emotional tone with different types of sensory experiences and adjust your behavior.

That part of cerebral cortex which has also relation with thoughts, behavior and even your personality is prefrontal cortex. The dorsomedial nucleus sends fibers in two ways to prefrontal cortex.

INPUT TO MEDIAL NUCLEUS:

1.from all other nucleus of thalamus

2. from lentiform nucleus (specially globus pallidus)

3.has relation also with substantia nigra

4.also from hypothalamus
