The medial proper plantar digital nerve to the great toe is the terminal sensory branch of the medial plantar nerve, itself a branch of the tibial nerve. It travels superficially along the medial side of the hallux (great toe), beneath the crural fascia and plantar fat pad at the level of the first metatarsophalangeal joint.
