Medullopontine sulcus

Sulcus bulbopontinus

Definition

Muhammad A. Javaid

The medullopontine sulcus is a distinct groove that demarcates the boundary between the medulla oblongata and the inferior border of the pons. Three cranial nerves emerge from this sulcus in a medial-to-lateral arrangement: the abducens nerve (cranial nerve VI), the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII), and the vestibulocochlear nerve (cranial nerve VIII).
