Meningeal cranial dura

Pars meningea durae cranialis

  • Latin synonym: Pars meningea durae matris cranialis
  • Synonym: Meningeal cranial dura mater

Definition

The meningeal cranial dura is the inner layer of the cranial dura mater that encases the brain. It continues downwards through the foramen magnum as the spinal dura mater.

On the other hand, the outer periosteal/endosteal layer lines the inner surface of the cranial cavity in the skull and becomes the periosteum on the outer surface of the skull bone.
