Tela chorioidea ventriculi quarti

  • Latin synonym: Tela choroidea ventriculi quarti
  • Synonym: Choroid membrane of fourth ventricle
  • Related terms: Choroid plexus of fourth ventricle; Choroid membrane

Definition

Tela choroidea of fourth ventricle is a double fold of the pia mater, which is a vascular membrane. It is located between the lower front part of the cerebellum and the back part of the medulla and fourth ventricle. The tela choroidea infringes into the cavity of fourth ventricle forming the choroid plexus, which is surrounded by the ependyma. The choroid plexus is responsible for producing cerebrospinal fluid.

The arterial supply to the vascular core of the tela choroidea of fourth ventricle comes from the posterior and anterior inferior cerebellar arteries (mainly PICA).
