Cranial rectal vein
Vena rectalis cranialis
Definition
The cranial rectal vein arises from the submucosal and muscular venous plexuses of the rectal wall and courses cranially along the dorsal surface of the rectum in the mesorectum. In carnivores, it continues as the left colic vein (that will end as the caudal mesenteric vein).
