Dorsal external ophthalmic vein
Vena ophthalmica externa dorsalis
Definition
The dorsal external ophthalmic vein anastomoses with the ventral external ophthalmic vein to form the ophthalmic plexus. Together, they collect the other veins forming the ophthalmic plexus. It is located against the dorsomedial wall of the orbit. In ungulates, it receives the supraorbital vein, which is replaced by the anastomotic branch with the angular vein of eye in carnivores.
