Dorsolateral caudal [coccygeal] vein
Vena caudalis [coccygea] dorsolateralis
Definition
The lateral caudal veins are located ventrally and dorsally at the level of the transverse processes of the coccygeal vertebrae.
Variant:
In equids, the ventrolateral caudal veins are predominant and extend the median caudal gluteal vein at the level of the last sacral vertebra. They are connected to the dorsolateral veins by irregular segmental veins.
