Palmar tubercle
Tuberculum palmaris
Definition
The palmar tubercles are located at the palmar surface of the base of the proximal phalanx in carnivores, separated by a deep groove that receives the sagittal crest of the head of the metacarpal bone when the joint is flexed.
The palmar tubercles articulate with the distal end of the palmar sesamoid bones.
In ungulate, their analogous are the medial and lateral palmar eminences.
