Right gastroepiploic vein
Vena gastroepiploica dextra
Definition
The right gastroepiploic vein originates from the confluence of multiple small venous tributaries along the greater curvature of the pyloric part of the stomach, the right gastroepiploic vein courses along the greater omentum, lying parallel and caudal to the right gastroepiploic artery. Its path follows the curvature from right to left, receiving venous blood from gastric branches and omental branches.
As it advances toward the left, it empties into the gastroduodenal vein, which subsequently joins the portal vein or directly into the portal vein.
