Sagittal ridge of distal sesamoid bone
Crista sagittalis ossis sesamoideum distale
Definition
The flattened distal sesamoid bone, located on the palmar/plantar side of the distal extremity of the middle phalanx, at the border of the distal phalanx that it completes, is smaller than the proximal ones. The soft sagittal ridge of distal sesamoid (Os sesamoideum phalangis distalis) separates its articular surface into two slightly excavated surfaces (in the same way as the articular surface of the distal phalanx, that it continues).
