鼓室神经（n. tympanicus；Jacobson神经）起自岩神经节，经颞骨岩部下面的一条小管上行至鼓室，该小管位于分隔颈动脉管与颈静脉窝的嵴上。
在鼓室内，该神经分成数支，形成鼓室丛，走行于岬的表面沟槽中。该丛发出以下分支：
(1) 岩小浅神经；
(2) 与岩大浅神经相连的一条分支；以及
(3) 至鼓室的分支，以上所有分支将在中耳解剖学相关内容中加以描述。
