鼓室神经（n. tympanicus；雅各布森神经）起自岩神经节，经颞骨岩部下面将颈动脉管与颈静脉窝分隔的嵴上的一条小管上行至鼓室。
在鼓室内，该神经分为数支，形成鼓室丛，分支走行于岬的表面沟槽中。此丛发出：
(1) 岩小浅神经；
(2) 与岩大浅神经相连合的一支；以及
(3) 至鼓室的各支，上述各支均将在中耳解剖学相关内容中加以描述。
