定义
喉上神经的内支（ramus internus）向下行至舌骨甲状膜，与喉上动脉伴行穿过该膜，分布于喉的黏膜。其中一些分支分布至会厌、舌根及会厌腺；其他分支在杓会厌襞内向后走行，供应环绕喉入口的黏膜，以及衬覆喉腔直至声襞的黏膜。一细支在甲状软骨内面的黏膜下方下行，与喉返神经相吻合（与喉返神经的交通支）。
