The abdominal lymph nodes are involved in the immune response and the drainage of lymphatic fluid from various abdominal organs and the abdominal wall. They are categorized based on their anatomical locations and the structures they drain and subdivided into two groups:

Other classifications of lymph nodes exist, for example the the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association (JGCA) classifies the regional lymph nodes draining the stomach into 33 regional lymphatic stations that include parietal and visceral lymph nodes in a single classification, more adapted for the clinical, surgical, and pathological description of gastric cancer.
