Anterior bundle of the medial collateral ligament
Fasciculus anterior ligamenti collaterale mediale
- Acronym: A-MCL
Definition
The anterior bundle of the medial collateral ligament (A-MCL) of the elbow arises from the inferior margin of the medial epicondyle and inserts at the sublime tubercle of the ulnar coronoid process.
The A-MCL is composed of a superficial and a deep layer. The superficial layer is a separate structure from the joint capsule and is considered to be associated with deep fibers of the flexor digitorum superficialis tendon.
