Definition

The articular facet of lateral malleolus is a flat triangular area located on the front part of the inner surface of the fibula’s lateral malleolus. It articulates with the corresponding surface of the talus, contributing to the formation of the ankle joint.

Behind the articular facet, on the same inner surface, there is a depression known as the malleolar fossa.
