Cavity of concha
Cavitas conchae
Definition
The cavity of concha, also known as the cavum conchae, is the lower and larger portion of the conchal depression in the auricle. It is located inferior to the crus of the helix, a cartilaginous ridge that projects medially over the concha and separates the cavum conchae from the cymba conchae situated above it. Serving as the entrance to the external acoustic meatus, the cavity of concha plays a key role in directing sound into the ear.
